Jack Challoner is an award-winning science writer and the author of more than fifty books on science and technology, for all ages. He gained a degree in physics at Imperial College, London, and trained as a science and mathematics teacher before working in the Education Unit at the Science Museum in London.

Jack grew up in Hartcliffe, in Bristol. Early on, he established an admiration of all the things science has revealed to us about the world. His curiosity and thirst for knowledge has not waned, and as an author, he aims to pass on his love of science to others.

Jack has been a science author for 35 years. He has more than fifty books to his name, written for all ages. He has won the Royal Society Science Book Prize, and has been shortlisted for many prizes, including the Royal Society of Biology Book Prize and the AAAS/Subaru SB&F Prize for Excellence in Science Books. 

His series “Maker Lab” was hugely successful in the USA (partly thanks to Kylie Jenner, who posted on social media that she had bought one of the books for Kim Kardashian’s daughter, North West!). The publisher, DK, sent him three times to tour schools and bookshops in New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco. 

Jack’s passion for explaining science carries over to his performances. He has encouraged curiosity and explained science in countless schools, libraries, bookshops and museums, stretching back to the 1990s. His shows, talks and workshops aren’t just entertaining: children genuinely learn.
